Chi-Fu Jeffrey Yang, MD, Thoracic Surgeon at Mass General Hospital and Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School, answers “3 Key Questions” about his clinical work, community outreach efforts, and leadership in the HCC Lung Cancer Working Group to increase awareness and access to lung cancer screening in Massachusetts. As founder of the American Lung Cancer Screening Initiative, Dr. Yang partners with community organizations to bring screening education and navigation services to communities that have been historically overlooked. He also serves as a member of the HCC Lung Cancer Research Program.
Joined by Dr. Benjamin L. Ebert, President and CEO of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Director of HCC, and Richard and Susan Smith Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, CURE honored four mentors this year whose work exemplifies the impact of a shared training network across HCC’s member institutions.
Milagros Abreu, MD, MPH, Founder and Executive Director/President of the Latino Health Insurance Program, answers “3 Key Questions” about her work to reduce health disparities by addressing barriers to healthcare access, insurance, education, and other social needs. Dr. Abreu serves on the HCC Community Advisory Board and is a member of HCC’s Breast Cancer Working Group, which brings together researchers and community members to address breast cancer in Massachusetts.
On Sunday, October 5th, 2025, the Harvard Cancer Consortium's CURE Program came together to celebrate the legacy of the CURE Program at the Jimmy Fund Walk.
David Einstein, MD, medical oncologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), answers “3 Key Questions” about his work with community partners to reduce barriers to prostate cancer care. Dr. Einstein is a member of the HCC Prostate Cancer Research Program and co-leads the new HCC working group that brings together researchers and community members to address prostate cancer in Massachusetts.
Students gave oral presentations on days 1 and 2, and then presented project posters on day 3, demonstrating the same sort of professionalism that one might see at a national scientific conference from tenure-track faculty.
On November 6th, Karen Burns White, James DeCaprio, MD, PhD, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's incoming CEO Benjamin Ebert, MD, PhD addressed a crowd of CURE students, CURE mentors, colleagues, and staff to kick off the 2024 HCC CURE Mentor Appreciation Award Ceremony.
After being displayed in the Mayor’s Neighborhood Gallery at Boston City Hall since late September, the Faces of Faith exhibit concluded on November 1st, but not before a reception featuring comments by cancer survivors
