I have been in the field of medical pharmacology and translational medicine for 20 years where I have pioneered complex in-vitro models (CIVM), microphysiological systems (MPS), organoid and ex-vivo models to enable drug development. Using these tools and leading teams in industry and academia, I have advanced programs from biomarker discovery to IND filing and into the clinic. CAR-T, unmodified and CAR-NK programs are of particular focus in my translational and clinical development research in which I leverage a deep network from donor and cell selection to platforms for translational biomarkers in the clinic.
I intertwine this expertise with multiple years in biotech innovation in senior and executive leadership roles, venture and growth equity investment, as well as NASDAQ-listed biotech business development and strategic alliance. My track record includes exits >$200M, strategic alliances with fortune 500 companies, and development of clinical stage assets.
My core philosophy centers on the transformative power of interdisciplinary science and collaboration in driving innovation and finding cures for diseases, especially cancer. In pursuit of this philosophy, I bring together diverse talents such as biologists, clinicians, physicists, chemical engineers, and mathematicians to comprehensively address drug resistance. My team achieved groundbreaking milestones, including identifying clonal cooperation in therapy resistance, discovering a metabolic mechanism that drives allogeneic cell therapy resistance, and unveiling a paradigm shift in oncology through the contribution of non-cancer stem cells, which we defined as 'drug-induced resistance' in heterogeneous cancers.
A key tenet of my approach is to engineer therapeutic solutions and efficiently translate them to the clinic. Leveraging nanoscale technology, our team has a rich history of developing innovative drugs that exploit pharmacokinetic deficiencies, delivering combinations of drugs to refractory cancers. This commitment to discovery and innovation has resulted in over 10 patents and patent applications, actively contributing to advancements in the industry. The translation of these therapeutic solutions to the clinic serves as a driving force behind our team's motivation.
Finally, a critical pillar of my philosophy is a deep investment in the next generation of scientists. Focused on nurturing an environment where students can thrive, I am dedicated to cultivating ambitious and motivated teams that are eager to learn, continually building knowledge, and perpetuating success.
