HCC CURE Team Exceeds Fundraising Goal to Support Student Training

October 27, 2026

On October 4th, the Harvard Cancer Consortium's Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences (CURE) Student Training Program came together in a big way at the 2026 Jimmy Fund Walk, raising $15,298! Fourteen students, alumni, staff, and supporters joined thousands of participants for the annual event, united in support of the program. CURE is HCC’s long-running student training program focusing on placing high school and college students into the labs of PIs at all HCC member institutions. The Jimmy Fund Walk allows the CURE program to earmark money raised by the team to support itself and keep its impactful programming moving forward.

Beginning at Dana-Farber's Longwood campus and ending at the energetic finish line celebration on Boston Common, the walk showcased the strength of the HCC CURE community and its shared commitment to supporting the next generation of cancer researchers and students pursuing careers in STEM across the consortium.

We are thankful to everyone who supported the team, helping to make this year's effort a success.

There’s still time to support the CURE Program!

Donations will be accepted through October 31st, 2026. The funds raised through this year's walk will directly support future cohorts.

As a powerful reminder of the impact of the CURE Program, the walk team was joined by several current students. YES for CURE students Cali Cahill and Simone Trainor, completed the half-marathon route together. When asked why she chose to participate in the Jimmy Fund Walk, Cali shared the following:

The CURE Program has solidified my passion for science, as well as helped me expand my interest in public health and health disparities. The wide variety of opportunities provided by the CURE Program have helped me prepare for a future in which I work to make the world a better place.

I love participating each October in the Jimmy Fund Walk, and it is especially gratifying to join our team of CURE Program supporters. It's fun and inspiring for our team to take part in the colorful parade of T-shirts and tutus and capes. In so doing, we not only raise funds for but also raise awareness of the CURE Program and shine a spotlight on the importance of providing training opportunities for the next generation of cancer researchers.
